Fall session with West Virginia Senior, Luke Barr, Class of 2025
This past year I had the privilege of photographing West Virginia Senior Luke Barr, a member of the Nicholas County High School Cross Country Team and Class of 2025. Luke is such a great young man – kind, grounded in his faith, and a talented long-distance runner. He’s a true country boy, close to his family, and it was such a joy to capture this milestone moment in his life.
Our session took place at Carnifex Ferry State Park in Summersville, WV, one of my favorite local spots. The weather was perfect, with soft light filtering through the trees – though we did have to battle a few pesky gnats along the way! At first, Luke was a little nervous about stepping in front of the camera, but it didn’t take long before he relaxed and truly shined. By the end of the session, he had the confidence of a natural model.
This family is one I’ve grown close to over the years. I had the honor of photographing Luke’s older sisters, Emily (Class of 2020) and Natalie (Class of 2023), for their senior portraits, and each session has been such a joy. Getting to know the Barr family —from planning their sessions to delivering their final images – has been one of the great blessings of my work.
The mother of these three seniors wrote me such a nice review!
“Jaki is a phenomenal person and photographer! She is genuinely talented, fun, and kind. My kids felt very comfortable and enjoyed their senior sessions with Jaki! The framed portraits are treasures throughout our home. My kids’ senior sessions were highlights to their senior year!” ~Carla Barr
Luke is following in his sister Natalie’s footsteps by continuing his running career at the next level. This fall, he’ll be competing in cross country at Glenville State University in Glenville, West Virginia, and I know his dedication and determination will carry him far.
Celebrating seniors like Luke is why I love what I do. Every West Virginia Senior has a unique story, and it’s my honor to capture not only their portraits, but also the personality, values, and future dreams behind those images.
Sincerely,
Jaki Good Miller
