This spring I had the privilege of spending 10 unforgettable days in South Africa with Jeff Clow Photo Tours, staying at the world-class Nedile Lodge. It was a trip that fed my soul, my camera, and my heart.
From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was beyond anything I could have imagined. The staff made us feel completely at home, and the food was absolutely gourmet. As a vegetarian, I was spoiled with special meals crafted just for me – truly to die for. Add in the luxury of the lodge and the magic of clamping under the African sky, and it was clear this was going to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Of course, sleep was in short supply, but that’s because every sunrise and sunset offered something extraordinary. From meals out in the bush to game drives that stretched long into golden hours, we were constantly on the move, chasing light and life.
And what life we found! We witnessed the Big Five – elephants, lions, leopards, Cape buffalo, and rhinoceros, up close and in their natural habitat. Every day was filled with breathtaking wildlife encounters: the deep gaze of a leopard, the raw power of a lion, the grace of antelope, and the playful chaos of hippos in the water. I captured so many photographs that I know I’ll treasure forever.
This was my fifth trip to Africa – and the last four have all been with Jeff Clow. Each journey somehow manages to top the last, and this one was no exception. Beyond the wildlife, what made it truly special was the group of people I shared it with. Over 10 days, strangers became friends, and together we created memories I’ll carry with me always.
Africa has a way of pulling you back, of weaving its wild beauty into your soul. And as I look through my photos – the golden sunsets, the fierce predators, the quiet moments of connection – I hope this won’t be my last time answering that call.
Thankful,
